  • Gate Drive: The IRF540 is not a logic-level MOSFET. For low RDS(on), drive the gate with ~10–12 V using a gate driver IC or a suitable driver stage when interfacing with Arduino (5 V) or Raspberry Pi (3.3 V).
  • Protection: Use a flyback diode across inductive loads (motors, relays) to suppress voltage spikes.
  • Gate Resistor: Add a 50–220 Ω series resistor to damp ringing and control switching transients.
