74HC595 Integrated Circuit (DIP-16)

The 74HC595 is an integrated shift register that facilitates the conversion of serial input data into parallel output. This is achieved by storing the serial data in a D-type flip-flop, which then delivers the output in parallel format as per the required state. The 9th pin of the 74HC595 allows for cascading integrations with other similar units. This feature makes it a popular choice for light show applications and it can be conveniently managed using an Arduino or any other microprocessor.
